PGGM, which invests on behalf of PFZW, the Dutch pension fund for the care and welfare sector, acquires a 49 per cent stake from Photon Capital, which has been involved with Penta Infra since its inception.

Penta Infra is a pan-European data centre platform providing a complete range of colocation services with locations in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. The company thus addresses the needs of small and medium-sized business customers to host their IT infrastructure in Penta Infra's data centres.

Penta Infra's recently completed new data centre in Brussels, with customers such as Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel, demonstrates its ambitions as an operator of high-quality data centres that play an important role in the further digitalisation of society. In addition, Penta Infra is a leader in the field of sustainability, with initiatives such as the use of 100% green power, residual heat use and closed-end water systems.

With the involvement of both Photon Capital and PGGM, Penta Infra believes it is well positioned to realise its growth ambitions in the coming years.

Bob Sprengers, CEO at Penta Infra: ‘We are proud to welcome PGGM as a shareholder while continuing our successful partnership with Photon Capital. The demand for data centres will only increase in the coming years and with Photon Capital and PGGM as partners, we can further accelerate our European strategy.’

Matthijs Lakerveld, director Digital Infrastructure at PGGM: ‘As a player in the rapidly growing data centre market, Penta Infra is a perfect addition to our existing investments in European digital infrastructure. It fits well with the mission we fulfil for PFZW: investing in the infrastructure of our economy that generates good, stable returns for the participants in the fund.’

Alex Bakker, Managing Partner at Photon Capital: ‘Photon Capital is very pleased to welcome PGGM as a partner in Penta Infra. Together we will continue to support Penta Infra in the growth of the company. Photon Capital believes Penta Infra is well positioned as a European growth platform, as evidenced by its recent acquisitions in the Dutch, Belgian and Danish markets.’
